The Health Initiative of the Americas, a program of the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, in partnership with other agencies, invites you to participate in the XVIII Binational Promotores Conference, 2018 at The California Endowment Oakland Regional Office on Monday, April 16.
The objective of the conference is to bring together various community health workers, also known as promotores de salud, in order to exchange ideas and learn about health topics that affect the migrant population.
The Binational Promotores Conference is held once every year. This conference convenes key people from the United States and Zacatecas to discuss the health challenges migrants face and to explore unique and collaborative opportunities to improve the health and well-being of this population. Through this conference, binational work and collaboration is encouraged, developing and expanding networks for future collaborations, including the exchange of educational materials and other resources. Key American institutions that participate include: Tiburcio Vazquez Health Center, Escuela Popular, La Clinica de la Raza, Petaluma Health Center, Plann Parenthood Northern California, Join Together Nevada, asociación Mayab, The Center for Families, Yolo Family Resource center, LOHP, among others. Institutions representing Zacatecas include: Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), de los Servicios de Salud de Zacatecas (SSZ); and the Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas (UAZ).
