We would like to share a great opportunity for researchers from the Athena Network:
The VIII International Congress on Migration and Mental Health, sponsored by the Athena Network, offers outstanding opportunities for scholars, professionals, immigrant services providers, and students to learn, share research and best practices, and network with regional, national, and international colleagues.
This year’s theme, “Gender, Place and Identity,” explores the intersectionality between complex mobilities in the modern era of transnationalism, the structures of power and oppression, and how these impact people’s lives and identifications.
The conference’s Steering Committee welcomes proposals from any professional field, at all levels of expertise and experience, that emphasize the importance of attending to the multiple structures and processes that intertwine to produce specific social positions and identities in the context of migration.
It is our hope that you will consider submitting a proposal for a panel discussion, a poster presentation, an article, or all three, which will not only take place at the conference, but also be published in our International Journal of Migration and Mental Health. Through your active participation and sharing, we can support immigrant right and improve the delivery of services to immigrants and to locals who are now their neighbors.
We are excited to welcome this year’s congress to the State University of New York at New Paltz, one of the nation’s best regional universities, on October 11, 2019. The beautiful Hudson Valley, where the university is located, 90 minutes north of New York City, has a wide variety of stimulating social and cultural opportunities for exploration, enjoyment, and learning.
