With the understanding that health and sickness knows no borders, the Government of Zacatecas, with the support of the Zacatecas Secretariat of Health, and the Health Initiatives of the Americas created the Binational Zacatecas Health Initiative (IBIZA for its Spanish acronym). The mission of this collaborative program is to improve the health and quality of life of the Zacatecan population living in the United States.

IBIZA accomplishes these goals by working in three areas:

a) Provision of primary and preventative services;

b) Training and creation of educational materials; and

c) Scientific research that could impact public policy.

IBIZA’s work is possible thanks to the leadership of the Zacatecas State Government, the work of the Zacatecas Health Services and the Health Initiative of the Americas, with the support of the Zacatecan Clubs and Federations in California, as well as The Mexican consular networks in California and volunteers.
