The Health Initiative of Americas’ media strategy is intended to raise public awareness of im/migrant population health issues and increase understanding that illness has no borders. The goals of HIA’s media campaigns are to promote healthy behavior among migrant/immigrant families, increase awareness and understanding of risk factors affecting health, and to provide families with information on health resources and services available in their communities.

Through the media, HIA also highlights the social, economic, and political contributions of im/migrant workers, with the goal of strengthening the solidarity, pride, and dignity among this population. Broadcast announcements are always delivered in a culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate manner, and address culturally relevant topics. Through print, radio, and television outlets, health-related messages are targeted to the full range of the Spanish-speaking population.
