Public Policy

HIA believes that in order to make a difference, it is imperative to have a bottom-up and top-down approach to address the health needs of Latinos living in the United States.  As a result, HIA has created several programs that raise awareness about the health challenges afflicting the underserved Latino population and signal these issues as political priorities.. These programs include:

  • Agreements
  • Resolutions & Proclamations
  • Binational Policy Forum: The annual policy forum examines and promotes immigrant health issues as a policy priority in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Held every October during Binational Health Week, the forum presents the opportunity for policy-makers, researchers, students, and public health workers to share recent research, propose policy recommendations, and develop bilateral working strategies.
  • Policy Briefing Papers
