Laura Torres received her Bachelors at the University of California, Berkeley in Molecular and Cell Biology with an emphasis on genetics. She started working with the Health Initiative of the Americas as an Undergraduate student and is now a staff member. She is from Sylmar, CA a small town in the San Fernando Valley. She plans to pursue a career in medicine to address the shortage of Latina physicians in her hometown and is also interested in genetic diseases that play a toll in the Latino Community.
