2003 Promotoras
The first Binational Promotoras Conferences took place on October 15, 2003 in Mare Island, California. The held 74 attendees from various organizations in both the United States and Mexico. This event is organized by the California – Mexico Health Initiative in collaboration with: the Mexican Social Security Institute/ Oportunidades Program, Mexican Health Secretariat/ Leave Health – Return Healthy Program, Touro University – California,Latino Health Access, Puente a la Salud, Planned Parenthood-Golden Gate, El Concilio of San Mateo, Tiburcio Vázquez Health Center, Children’s Health Initiative/ Visión y Compromiso – Community Health Outreach Worker/Promotoras Project, Por Nuestra Salud, Farmworker Women’s Leadership Network ofCalifornia, Mental Health Center Pilsen-Little Village, Hesperian Foundation and LaCañada College.’
